What's an ADU?
Welcome to ADU Seattle, where craftsmanship meets dedication. Transform your vision into reality with our expert team of builders. From concept to completion, we specialize in new homes and ADUs.
An ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) is a self contained, secondary housing unit ont he same lot as a primary residence featuring its own kitchen, bathroom and entrance. ADU’s can be attached to the by main house by converting space such as a garage, an attic or other underused space.
A DADU (Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit) specifically refers to a standalone unit completely separate from the primary home. DADU’s offer greater privacy for both units. These units have become increasingly popular and new codes in WA state make them much easier to build and access. A DADU can be built from scratch on an existing lot or a shed, outbuilding or other structure can be converted.
ADU’s and DADU’s provide homeowners with many uses:
– Rental units for supplemental income
– Multigenerational living
– Home office, art studio, guest house, etc.
For those with mobility issues, an ADU can also be a good solution for aging in place by staying on your property in a more accessible ground floor unit.
